FAQ:
Tell me about how this event started. An intergenerational fitness festival! Founded by Karleen Porcena with a simple mission- she wanted to get her friends and family moving in a way that was more reflective of our culture. Movement that was tied to fun and community: a fête (party). Joined by her partner in crime Elena Sicairos, Fit Fête offers a diverse range of activities from martial arts to yoga to zumba and bootcamp. We will have sessions dedicated to our young people as well as our 60+ crew. Beyond the physical, there will be a focus on mental well-being, healthy eating and opportunity to find an accountability community.
Who are the instructors and practitioners? We are excited to collaborate with incredible local talent that will offer an array of fitness and wellness resources. Given the lack of representation of people of color within the wellness industry, Fit Fête brings in quality leaders with both lived experience and an intersectional approach.
Where will it be held? Now in our 3rd year, we’ve outgrown our backyard-style festival – join us at a new location! We are thrilled to be hosted by the Shirley-Eustis House Association in Roxbury. We encourage you to learn more about this historic estate and grounds here: https://www.shirleyeustishouse.org/
